Chelsea's astonishing 7-2 win at sunderland las wknd was totally ahhhh-mazing. It sent a warning to ars n manu tt this is only e beginning. Nicolas Anelka n Frank Lampard grabbed 2 apiece as e game was over in merely 22min (i tink) as we were 3-0 up. Ashley Cole, Michael Ballack n Florent Malouda all managed to get on e scoresheet as well as Chelsea hit 7 for e 1st time in many yrs. Closest we had was a couple of 6-0 n 6-1 wins. Well, a truly exciting match if u had watched, Chelsea threatened to score everytime dey had e ball (wich was most of e time). The win sent us to top of e table wich is nth new, i mean we haf been top for a long time it becomes part of a routine. Anyway, it certainly showed Chelsea were finally free frm tt blip wich caused us sum worries in dec n definitely proved our critics wrong hu insisted tt we WILL collapse after Drogba n co left for CAN 2010. I hope u watched tt match ppl cuz it sure pleases me to imag e looks on ur faces after Chelsea keep banging in goals 1 by 1.
Nicolas Anelka opened e scoring after a sweet thru ball frm Ballack opened up e defence n beating e offside trap, Anelka rounded up e gkper n then headed into an empty net. We were in front as early as e 7th min i guess. Florent Malouda was next as he brilliantly paced his run into e danger area b4 smashing it into e left corner. 2-0 to Chelsea n we were in total control. He later admitted he was looking for Anelka but seeing tt dere were defenders surrounding him, he chose to shoot. What a wise decision for such a selfless player.
Ashley's goal, in fact, was remarkable! After controlling e ball nicely frm Terry, he managed to fool a defender (probably their captain, im not sure i mean ev1 is focusing on Ashley) b4 slotting it coolly into e net. 3-0 n 3pts in e bag. Lampard made it 4 shortly b4 half-time as he tapped in frm sum cross (i apologize, dere were juz too many tt day). A great 1st half indeed.
I wouldnt blame sunderland if dey had put in a request for e game to end at half-time, i mean wich team could hold Chelsea? Apparently none if u ask me, not even old tommy could. On e other hand, i wouldnt blame Chelsea too if e players just slightly relaxed abit afterall e lead looks n is unassailable. However much to e dismay of Sunderland players n fans alike, it doesnt seem if we were about to let e curtains down for such an entertaining performance. Anelka n Lampard both got another goal while a Ballack header ensured tt we hit 7 in such an emphatic fashion.
Now hu said only arsenal can play e beautiful game? I think wif this match, Chelsea proved tt they can produce both e thrill n e results. Every pass was slick n every Chelsea move almost led to a goal. Joe Cole had 2 or more clear-cut chances n Anelka almost had his hat-trick. No offence to sunderland but it could haf been 10-0 or worse. You know, its quite silly tt some ppl choose to focus on e 2 goals conceded when e 7 scored would most certainly haf swept many off their seats. It doesnt mean antg, for god's sake, kindly exterminate all thoughts abt messy defending whatsoever or growing concern over the inability to clear corners. Seeing tt we r Chelsea n not any other team (esp manu), its unlike us to thrash sunderland like hell n not give dem sth to cheer abt. Besides, as i haf said earlier, you cant blame e team for putting their foot off e pedal at times when ur leadg by a super wide gap (by liv's standards).
Alas, 3 pts earned, 7 goals scored, Chelsea fans were certainly in for a treat on our very 1st match w/o Drogba n co. A proud 'told you so' to ppl out dere hu predicted tt Chelsea would haf to struggle to cope wif e loss of our African stars. We definitely did.. i mean how do u explain to them tt they had missed out on an altogether vintage performance frm e team? I wouldnt like to try, no way. Be a true blue n u will be proud of it.
