And I know how hard you tried
You deserve to have so much more
I can feel your heart and I sympathize
And I'll never criticize all you've ever meant to my life
They say a picture paints a thousand words, what about song lyrics? These few sentences above encompass my feelings for yesterday's match between chelsea and tottenham.
Throughout the match, i can see how pained the chelsea players are everytime they lose possession or when ghnomes saved their shots. I know they all gave their best to turn things around and i must say im deeply touched by their efforts. Of course we deserved to win but sometimes you also need abit of luck. There's a chinese saying that even though you did not have any achievements, your hard work cannot be forgotten.
Many are saying that drogba, ferreira and others did not perform to their best and were at times off colour. I beg to differ. Everytime they miss or scuff a shot, we raise our fists in anger but how would they feel? Guilt, disappointment and regret are but few of the many things in their minds. As a chelsea fan, i would never doubt their desire and will to win, nor their performances because thats what fans are for. Who else can they look to for support and encouragement if even their own fans turn away from them?
True, we didnt leave white fart lane with 3pts which will put daylight between ourselves and manure once again but seriously do you really think we stand a chance against a team who has external help?
A dubious handball was given against Terry in the first half and i repeat DUBIOUS. It touched his chest, for gods sake! Pardon me if im wrong but i clearly remember the definition for handball is as simple as its name suggests: HAND and NOT chest. So i have absolutely no idea why rottenham were awarded a penalty. Unless of course the rules were altered so suddenly they didnt have time to inform the world. That penalty which dumbfoe converted was the turning point and ironically in Chelsea's favour. We started to attack more and trouble their defence which practically consisted of the whole team. Why rottenham, are you scared?
Sadly, a few minutes before half-time bale managed to cut on the inside of ferreira and beat cech to the near post. Ok i have nothing to complain about it primarily cuz im not alex and secondly since its a proper goal. I cant say im impressed as we scored a couple of similar goals in recent weeks too. Thats a problem if you're a chelsea fan, you dont find other goals interesting cuz you have already seen them all!
Ok 2-0 by half-time isnt all that insurmountable considering we came back from similar situations like the one against villa where we drew 4-4 in the end. So we threw on Anelka and Ivanovic in the hope that we can score at least 2 goals. By then we have used up all 3 of our subs as Ballack replaced Mikel in the first half due to injury problems. Drogba gave us a tiny scare as he limped off right before the start of the second half cuz of a groin problem i think. Thankfully he pressed on. We dont want to spoil our chances by playing with 10men.
Suddenly out of the blue, flash red. Victim? Our fantastic captain Terry who got sent off early for 2 fouls (questionable? definitely!) Ok so maybe his second foul was understandable but his first? im not so sure. In any case 2-0 down and with 10men, i cant blame chelsea fans out there for throwing in the towel already. Rottenham fans on the other hand must be hoping for a big margin win. WRONG. unless you count 2-1 a big win.
Well pavlyuchenko or however you spell it had a couple of misses, the one most glaring when ivanovic was up against 3 tot rot players. How can he miss (not that im not glad)?? Now you know why tot rottenham are well still fighting for 4th. In stoppage time however, Lampard managed to pull one back for us. yes dear Super Frankie Lampard. Now you wonder which team is trailing 2-0 with 10 men. Though his goal was still not enough to salvage a point, this team performance where they didnt give up till the last minute was commendable.
No need to panic, says ancelotti and he's pretty right. Which team is top of the league with a 1pt lead? Which team is still in the running for the FA Cup? Which team is on their way to a historic double? Chelsea! Chelsea! Chelsea! Now we need to win stoke at home next week and pray that spurs beat manure. Be proud that you're a Chelsea fan! =]
