When Ballack signed for Chelsea in 2006, i was really happy. A germany captain and winner from Bayern Munich, i was convinced that 2006 would be the year when Chelsea would finally win the champions league and of course reclaim the premier league title crown. He was given the no 13 amid some controversy but who cares when Ballack wants no 13 we give him no 13.

Its no surprise that when he arrived at Chelsea, many people start wondering if his arrival meant the departure of Frank Lampard. Afterall both play rather similar positions. However much to the critics' displeasure, Ballack and Lampard complemented each other well and often create goal-scoring chances for one another. Of course i was most pleased seeing that 2 of my favourite footballers could play in tandem.

Ballack for the record will be 34 after sept and its irritating to hear people playing down his abilities just because of his age. i know for athletes especially footballers age is important. once you hit 30, its hard for you to find another club that is willing to give you a second chance. BUT there are exceptions. and i think Ballack is one. Passing and controlling the ball well from midfield, scoring goals with both his feet, headers and free kicks, not to mention penalties (remember the one he took rather coolly against manu when it was at 1-1), he's a good midfielder and everything we could ask for.

He always mentioned that he was pleased to be at a club as big and successful as Chelsea and would love to spend his remaining career at stamford bridge. the thing is, why wasnt he given the chance?

Not till recently have i known of the truth behind his departure. His agent said that Ballack left due to some complications regarding his contract. nothing to do with wages, he's not joe the money scum. Ballack wanted a 2-year extension but Chelsea was only willing to give him 1. I can understand. In my opinion, he still has many years left in him but seriously i would be lying if i said he didnt once think about his retirement. Its obvious he wants to end his career with Chelsea and i applaud him for that. But from Chelsea's point of view, they need a guarantee that Ballack will still be playing at the highest level possible for the next 2 years. and sadly, i dont think they can see that.

Ballack's last game for Chelsea turned out to be the heart-wrenching one where he limped off injured after being tackled by kevin-prince boateng in the fa cup final against portsmouth. a pity he couldnt finish his Chelsea career off in style. As im typing this, he's already enjoying himself back at bayer leverkusen and im glad he's able to end his career in a club where he's cheered on by the supporters who used to rever him and still do.

Michael Ballack will forever remain a Chelsea player in my heart, the no 13 no one will ever be able to replace. I will always remember his handshake with jose mourinho, him holding his Chelsea jersey in front of the media, his very first game for Chelsea in a friendly, his first goal against werder bremen.. and his final time wearing the blue Chelsea jersey. A true blue Chelsea legend who won a premier league title, 3 fa cups, a league cup and a community shield while with us. Thank you for all the wonderful memories you have given us, Michael.

Spain might have won the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, their first and europe's first on foreign soil. It was also the first time the final did not consist of Brazil, Argentina, Germany and Italy. Plenty of records broken here and there. But what caught my eye most in this tournament is not spain's wonderful play or rather Paul the Octopus (though i must admit it ranks 2nd), but this bit player from Spain called Jesus Navas.

I dont think many of us would have heard of him if not for the world cup. Strangely the world cup is held every 4 years. Yet it is also the time when we get to know new players. Anyway, Jesus Navas is a winger who plays for sevilla and obviously spain. He's a terrific player who frequently makes his runs along the right, with occasional shots at goal himself. Pretty young at 24, you must be wondering why is it that we have not heard of his name until now. Well here's the case. Due to his anxiety problems and homesickness, its difficult or rather quite impossible for him to play for spain the way he plays for his club. Fingers crossed, i hope that he has overcome his illness seeing that he has had no problems playing in SA for a month.

Well, i would be lying if i said i didnt want chelsea to sign him. Firstly he's young and we all know chelsea NEEDS young players. Secondly he's such a good player! And of course we need someone to replace joe cole and who better than Navas? But as i type this, i know its even more impossible for him to join chelsea than for him to recover from his illness (which he just did, so you never know =]). Oh wells my memory of him will be kept in my heart untill the next world cup when im sure he'll be more of a bit player. Go Navas!

Chelsea Football Club has officially signed Yossi Benayoun, a midfielder previously from Liverpool, for 3 years. Here is what he said: I am very excited to come to a club like Chelsea, it is a big club and I think it is a dream for every player. Hopefully we will be successful.

Honestly, i dont really like Benayoun and i dont see why buying a 30 year old player would help especially when we need younger talents. But as a trueblue, i'll definitely support him and im sure Chelsea fans all around the world would be doing the same.

So here's a warm welcome to the big Chelsea family, Yossi! And dont worry, your dream of being successful will come true. In my opinion, this is one of your best decisions ever. Keep the blue flag flying high.

Im really sad today. Brazil crashed out of the world cup, going 1-2 down to the netherlands. Robinho scored as early as the 10th minute but brazil didnt capitalize on this advantage and ended up trailing the dutch by a goal when felipe melo's own goal and sneijder put them in front. Felipe melo then got red-carded and everything that could not go wrong seemed to did for the brazilians. I dont know about the red card and whether it was deserving but i certainly know that robben is more fragile than a glass vase. He seems to fall at every touch, which was plain annoying. I know he used to be from Chelsea and i used to revel his dribbling skills. But at this point of time, even if he STILL is a chelsea player, i'll never forgive him.

Its really sad to see Kaka cry. Well though i didnt actually witness tears flowing down his pretty face, i can tell when he bent his head down that he's really heartbroken. Immediately, i got reminded of John Terry. When he missed that decisive penalty in moscow 08 and inadvertently gave the trophy to manure, i cried. So did he. And for the first time, i saw how football can really break one's heart. A strong man like Terry who is willing to put his head on the line for every ball actually broke down on the pitch, oblivious that the whole world is watching on.

2 years on and i thought i had grown stronger. Sheva didnt qualify for the world cup with ukraine. Ballack got injured and was ruled out just before the tournament. He, together with joe cole, deco and juliano belletti are set to leave Chelsea. Yoann Gourcuff got sent off for a foul that never was. France went home in disgrace after failing to get past the group stage. England lost 4-1 to Germany. Lampard had a perfectly legitimate goal ruled out. I took them all in my stride. It seemed, for awhile, that i could take every negative thing that was thrown in my way. Perhaps not. As the time went ticking by, i kept praying for an equaliser like how Chelsea used to do it against stoke city. 85min. I imagined myself jumping up in ecstasy as Kaka kicked the ball high up into the net. 90min. I didnt care whether it was a netherlands own goal, i just needed a damn goal. Seeing van bommel pointing at the watch riled me. At the full whistle, everything seemed to have lost its meaning. Brazil, the ever-whelming favourite, MY every-whelming favourite is out.

Now, looking back over everything, im really proud of Brazil. This was an amazing journey nonetheless. Maicon changed my opinion about him. So did Robinho. This was a Brazil side full of talent, speed and bravery. They dared to attack even when they were 10men down. They never stop believing. Even though they are now out of the tournament, their spirit still remain. I hope that 4 years later in Brazil, i'll be able to see the same few players out there, giving their heart and soul for the game. I hope that i'll be able to see them lift the world cup trophy for the 6th time in their history. I hope that its tears of joy and not pain that flows down Kaka's face. By then, i'll cry. But not because im sad. Neither is it due to happiness. I'll cry for i know that i have outgrown myself.
